I hope you don't feel that these corrections are mean spirited, but I feel they need to be made. Someday these minutes will be archived and people can go to them for assistance.

1. The person who officiated at the meeting should be named as well as the date. (I always did a centered heading with minutes, the name of the organization, the date, the time, the location. (My way is surely not the only way.

The meeting was called to order by President Becky Young. If the president was not present, then the vice president should be named. The meeting was called to order by the Vice President, in the absence of the president, Becky Young. This is important because one day someone could be looking for the information as to who officiated at the meetings way back then and can't find it. I had that experience when I was first secretary in the 1960s.

2. Guests really should be named as a courtesy to them. Mary Sonksen was still a guest until she was voted in, and others should be named. That could be a refresher so that we can recruit.

3. Balances should be published in the minutes, especially since the minutes are sent out and not the treasurer's report. People need to see where we are.

4. Nothing was said at all concerning the fundraising discussion. It doesn't need to be in detail, but a short, and I mean short, summary of what Mary McGee had to say should be posted. It was important.

5. The speech played should be titled, the presidential release number should be named.

Becky, perhaps much of this resulted from Terri's distraction with Devon, I'm not sure as I was not there for any of it up to President Riccobono's speech. If you essentially wrote the minutes, that can account for some of the issues. You can't do both jobs accurately. Minutes are an important part of a meeting; that's why no one wants the job.

Thank you for your consideration.

Cindy

On Fri, Jan 19, 2024 at 11:54 AM Becky Young via DSM-Iowa <dsm-iowa@nfbnet.org> wrote:

Minutes Des Moines Chapter 11/11/2023

The meeting was called to order at 2:00.

Pledges were recited.

Guests were introduced.

24 people were present.

Secretary's Report Terry Hall moved to approve the Secretary's Report.
