Here is my latest experiment. It is an iPhone web application that
support both searching for and, if there is an MP3 version of the
book, playback of books from the experimental talking book library in
Western Australia.
To try this out go to this site using a iPhone or iPod Touch http://www.cucat.org/library/iphone/
Search for the title Peter Rabbit you will get back two books click on
either one. The audio will start to play after a few seconds.
You can try this out from any normal web browser as well but you don't
get the same iPhone application effects. The application will work
even if there is no MP3 file for the book it will tell you if the book
has been produced or not. But where MP3 files do exist you can listen
to them right from the application itself.
