[Dtb-talk] DTB Player Sleep Button Problems

Hello Marietta,

I was one of the first 100 people to test the prototype units last year. I
do not seem to recall having faced this particular problem. Can you see if
other patrons are facing this issue? I would suggest the following tests to
see if the problem is reproduceable. There are two things you want to
discount: 1) user error and 2) individual machine issues.

You'll need at least two patrons with the same machine type to test this to
make sure you're doing this in a controlled manner.

1. With the patron who's having this particular issue:

Call and have him start playing a book. Make certain the unit is plugged
in.

2. Once the book is playing, have him press the sleep button until the
timer is set to 45 minutes.

3. Instruct him to leave the unit alone and not touch it at all.

4. You can hang up the call and call later.

5. Call him about 40-42 minutes later and observe what happens at
about the time that the timer is set to expire.

6. Follow the same procedure for additional user(s). The more users
you have who can confirm this behavior, the better it is.

Changing volume or speed should not affect the sleep timer. Either this is
a firmware issue or something is happening with this particular unit. Let's
try and understand whether any user behavior is affecting this or not.

If you have the time or the patience, perhaps you may want to try to have a
second set of tests done with the patrons changing speed and volume during
the 45 minutes when the unit is running.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to give me a call if you have any
questions at 347-772-8355.

Regards,

Pratik

Subject: [Dtb-talk] DTB Player Sleep Button Problems

Hello:

A patron states that, though he sets the NLS Standard DTB player to stop
after 45 minutes (using the crescent-shaped Sleep Button, pressing it three
times) he has never succeeded in using the function. He wakes up hours
later, and the book seems never to have stopped playing. He would like to
know whether any other DTB users have experienced this problem. He also
wonders whether changing the volume, or using any other buttons after he has
set the Sleep button would affect the setting, or cause it to be changed.

Any thoughts on this issue would be most appreciated.
