Eric,

If your player is running the latest firmware, you can switch between
books by holding down the Play/Stop button until it announces
"Bookshelf". Then use FF/Rew to skip bokos.

If this doesn't work, and you have to update firmware, you can do that
at http://www.loc.gov/nls/DTBM/ The instructions are pretty simple,
very similar to extracting a book to a flash drive.

the built-in manual.

As I do not yet have a cartridge, I am reading with a USB thumb drive.

My question is should I be able to have more than one book on a drive?  When
I turn on the unit it tells me there are two books and the information
option confirms that, but I cannot jump out of the first book.
