Hi,
Correction: You use the navigation keys left and right above the play pause
button. I may be mistaken on the basic model, but that is, for sure, the
way it works on the advanced model, which I use. It really works great! It
seems to find books, no matter where they are on the storage media.
Warmest Regards,
Fred

You can not read bookshare books, there is no synthesized speech. If
your machine has updated firmware you can get to the bookshelf by
holding down the play key. The player will beep and say bookshelf
and you use the right and left keys, next to the play/stop key to
navigate it, and play to choose a book.

p.s. Each book, on your USB drive should be in its own folder.
