[Dtb-talk] can kindle be used by the blind

First, does kindle use mobi for kindle book files?  if so, I have found
it useful to convert such files to epub which then get put by my VR
Stream 2 into the talking book folder.  This seems to work pretty well. 
I have not found a way to order and download them, although I have not
tried that hard to do so.  Please correct me if any statements which I
have made are incorrect.  Kurt
