Setting AVR Phones to Talk
. Using the internal
keyboard To get the phone talking do the following:
1. Hit the OK key to access the main menu the OK key is located on the right
hand side below the end and send keys surrounding by the four arrow keys
2 Hit the down arrow 4 times to get to the Settings/tools menu 3. Hit 6 for
Phone Settings 4. Hit 3 for Voice commands 5. Hit 1 for Prompts 6. Hit 1 for
Mode 7. Here the second menu choice is Prompts * &+ Alerts 8. Hit OK 9Hit
the end key to return to the main screen.

Actually, Holly proposed an easier way to get started:

1. open phone
2. press the space key located third from the right on the bottom row 3.
press the right soft key located and the top of the phone near the hinges.
4. arrow down to prompts
5. arrow down once to read all
then the phone should start talking.

I received an ENV3 in the mail this afternoon. The keyboard is very similar
to the Voyager Titanium, except that the space bar is more in the middle,
where you would normally find it on a QWERTY keyboard, and, unlike on the
Voyager, there is only one space bar. The phone keypad on the outside is
not comprised of individual buttons. It consists of 4 bars of 3 numbers
each. For reference, the 5 has a dot to the left and to the right of it.
So, the 2 is above the 5, the 8 is below the 8, the 0 is below the 8, just
as on a conventional phone dial pad.

Now for the question: Using the instructions for setting the VX 8350 does
not get the phone to speak all that it can. Maybe I can try the method for
other ENV models, but I don't know what those are. If anyone else has
instructions for those, or, even better, if they have got the ENV3 to speak
as it should, I would appreciate those instructions, as well as any
documentation on the ENV3. Thanks.
