[Electronics-talk] [electronics-talk] window air fconditioner

Dear All,

Dropping a screw inside the unit is not the best thing for it, but it is not
the end of the world either.
Your boyfriend could pull the unit back out and try to turn the unit upside
down or on its side to get the screw to fall out, the same way it got in, or
he might be able to reach it with a tool such as a Magnet on a stick. I
keep two such devices in my tool box for such occasions when I drop
something like a screw, nut or bolt down in a piece of machinery I am
working on.
One has a flexible , spring like handle and the other has a ridge straight
handle that extends.
The important thing is to get the screw to a place where you can reach it
and pull it out.
The harm it can do by staying in the unit is unknown. It might be okay for
years or it might stop the fan and burn it up or punch a hole in one of the
evaporator coils. I just don't know what to tell you.
Getting it out is best, just figuring out how is the question.
