yes,
you are late to the thread.
if you just hit stop and leave it like that for days, your batteries will be 
dead.
you don't actually turn them off until you hold down the slide switch until 
you hear the tones.
wasted several sets and just recently bought a charger and 4 trip A ni-hd 
sanyos.
