[Electronics-talk] ATM's

Drew,
I have learned of another one just about a 1/2 mile from me, so before work
today, I plan on going over there to look at it, and ask someone if they can
tell me what make/model it is. It should give me a pretty good idea if it
will pass the basics of accessibility. We are opening our new Federal
Transit center in a few weeks, and being on our transit board, I have
advocated strongly to insure that the ATM be accessible to all. I was
successful in advocating the BEP as our vendor of choice, so we are on our
way! Should be a great addition if all plays out. Thanks for the advice,

Steve

Steve,
The ATMs in my area have been slowly coming accessible with speech output.
The thing I have noticed when attempting to use these machines is that when
they upgrade them with speech, a lot of times they remove the Braille
labels. This is a big problem as the ATM needs both speech and Braille since
without the Braille there is no way to identify what button you are pressing
unless you memorize every machine in your area. hope this helps Drew
