Unfortunately, the ID units I have don't have particularly good volume, even 
when they are maxed and, of course, if you're outside with the cordless, you 
can't hear it from inside.  It's kind of funny how dependent we have all 
become with the talking ID's.  Before they were around, we didn't know who 
was on the other end until we answered the phone.  I, at one time, was so 
against caller ID's but now, I absolutely love them.  How times change.
