there are buttons for both. They showed me how to do it, so now
I just walk over and do it. There is also a way to do it from
either of the 4 handsets.

at our house, we have a panasonic KX-TG6444 which seems to work
fairly well. It's got 4 handset, built-in base dial pad, and
talking CID. It was $149.99 at amazon.com, on August 30th.

I got a panisonic KXTG6582 Last summer and it announces both name
and
number
without anychanges out of the box. This model is also blue
tooth and
picks
up my cell when I come into the house. Panisonic has a pdf of
the manual
on-line and also a doc file that describes all the buttons.

Thanks. Mine are a few years old, too. I'll check the
Panasonic
website.
I'lso check with ATT.
I appreciate the reply.

Sorry, I can't answer that. I set them up several years ago
with some
sighted assistance, and I don't remember if they just worked
that way
or if we had to tweak something.
Also, your phone company needs to provide you with the extra
information. This is sometimes an extra service called things
like
"extended caller ID"
Good Luck,
Jim

I really like the Panasonic phones. They're cordless, so I can
have
them throughout the house, so I can hear the caller ID wherever
I
am.
Also, the Panasonic phone announces the name and number of the
person
calling me. I haven't found a talking caller ID box that will
do
this. I'd love to hear of one. There are some that will
announce
contacts that you've put into them, but none that will announce
the
name and number off the caller ID signal.
If someone wanted to review who called them, then you'd need a
caller
ID box. BTW, you can have both. The phone to get extra
information
and more places that announce the caller ID; and the talking
caller ID
box that lets you review who has called.
Take Care,
Jim

There is only one basic phone with a talking ID. It is made by
Panasonic
and it provides a limited amount of information. This device
only
provides information in audio about the name of the person
calling
when
the telephone is ringing. You are not able to hear a call log
or find
out who called when you were not near the phone. In addition,
none of
the menus on the device are accessible. This is only available
as the
call is coming in. FCC regulations have resulted in this; so,
the FCC
declared this an "ADA" telephone. It is sold at a limited
amount of
electronic stores. This item retails for about $100.00
Good luck.

Hi friends,
I'm seeking a cordless phone or phones with talking
ID. Is there one more "blind friendly" than others?
Thanks in advance for any idea you share with me.
Best wishes,
Rollie
