[Electronics-talk] Accessible TVS

Hello everyone,

We'd be interested in hearing from folks that own various models of HD
TVS as we're hoping to purchass one next year. Which models have you found
to
be the most accessible?

As for cable services we only have Time-Warner in our apartment complex.
I believe that Time-Warner also offers the same services as does AT&T uVerse
in that you can program your DVR from the Internet. We're in the process of
setting up our "My Services" account. Once you get by some captchas their
interface is very usable.

One problem we've had with Time-Warner is occasional stuttering from the
TV The problem began about three years ago and has gotten worse since we
move to our current address. Though less frequently we also see flickering
and snowy screens; white-outs. Fortunately this problem has not effected our
phone or Internet service.

Believing our 20-year-old analog TV to be the problem we occasionally
watch a DVD. At no time do we experience the stuttering or screen white-outs
when watching a DVD or VCR video. Obviously the problem is in Time-Warner's
system and not our TV. The problem is wide-spread and is going on all over
the San Antonio area.

We've heard every excuse in the book from Time-Warner as to why this is
happening. Since it's so wide-spread it sounds like they need to do some
serious equipment upgrades and maintenance. Are folks who use uVerse or
other cable services experiencing this same problem? Have those of you who
own HD TVS also had this problem?

I know we're getting rather OT with this one but it could effect our
ability to access the Internet if someone is using a service prone to having
this problem. We've urged others experiencing this situation to contact
Time-Warner and urge them to do a more serious investigation so the problem
can be corrected and we'll get what we pay for.

How well do those programs work that allow you to watch TV on your
computer? All the best.

And her fetters we'll break, links that long are encumbered.
And the air will resound with hosannas to greet you
On the shore will be found gallant Irishmen to greet you."
