Has anyone tried to band together and go to these companies to tell them how poor the life of the watches are, and work with them to improve their quality?

Actually, I'd prefer a braille watch from Rolex!

BTW, I've had two Seiko braille watches for more than the past 20 years,
and I've never had any trouble getting a jeweler to change the battery.
Of course, a Seiko watch and a Radio Shack watch are a bit different.

February is Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD) Month. ARMD is the leading cause of blindness in America for those aged 50 and over. Risk factors for this disease include: smoking, obesity, race, family history and gender. The South Carolina Commission for the Blind stresses the importance of receiving a comprehensive eye exam that includes visual acuity tests, a dilated eye exam and a tonometry test for individuals over the age of 50.
