[Electronics-talk] lon lasting talking watch?

But if you live in an urban area like many blind people do, there is not
always a mall or Sears nearby, which means that you either have to spend car
fare to get there or find someone willing to drive you there. I live in
upper Manhattan, and if I wanted to have the battery in my talking watch
replaced, I would have to travel downtown by paratransit, which would cost
$4.50 round trip. Then the jeweler would charge $10 to replace the battery.
So unless you live within walking distance of a place that replaces watch
batteries, you are better off just buying a new one. And what about all the
other talking products that use non-replaceable batteries like talking
pedometers and talking medical thermometers? No jeweler or watch repair
service will touch these devices. So I no longer buy any products that use
nonreplaceable batteries.
