[Electronics-talk] Accessible Weather Radio?

Hello,

I'm not sure of your definition for accessible. I have a C Crain portable
radio with a weather band. It has a couple of settingf for alarms. I am
totally blind and have the radio set to sound an alarm when there is an
alert. it is quite loud and works even when there is something plugged into
the earphone jack. The band is preset with all the frequencies, so you
simply push the preset buttons until you hear the weather channel. I
consider it accessible, but others may not. By the way, it is a truly
wonderful radio in other ways as well.

Regarding apps, I have weather bug, but they changed it and it is no longer
accessible. So, I do not recommend Weatherbug.

Warmest Regards,

Fred.

There is an iPhone app called Weather Alert USA. You can get NOAA weather
broadcasts from all over the country, and you can set alarms, etc. It is
accessible, and there is a review on www.applevis.com

I serve on an advisory committee to the Texas Division of Emergency
Management. We are highly focused on emergency preparedness for Texans with
disabilities. Identifying and promoting accessible resources is one of our
tasks. I'm looking for recommendations for an accessible NOAA weather radio.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.
