which product are you talking about.
the cyberacoustic 2-speaker unit i have has two cords, usb for power and 
regular 3.5mm STEREO headphone tip with volume control knob and extra 
headphone socket and is indeed stereo and sounds good.

it doesn't matter what brand you buy, it can be done for $20 and about 
$60-80 for complete 5.1 system.
