I just bought a new Haven off the web for $40.

Not necessarily, Products are typically supported for some time even after
the product is no longer being sold or manufactured. Verizon should continue
to honor any support agreements you have in place with them, but they may
try to talk you into upgrading rather than getting your Haven serviced.
