[Electronics-talk] Accessible Stove/oven

No, the purpose of a pilot is to ignite the gas.  All gas ovens manufactured 
in the 1950's and earlier have them.  All unrenovated prewar apartment 
buildings in New York city have such ovens.  So there are still thousands of 
them out there. You are probably not old enough to have seen an all-gas oven 
with a manually-lit pilot.  Have you ever seen a rotary telephone?
