[Electronics-talk] Accessible Stove/oven

I guess you are just not old enough to know what you're talking about.  As I 
mentioned previously, gas ovens manufactured in the 1950's and earlier had 
no provisions for automatically igniting the pilot inside the oven cavity. 
It has to be lit with a match or other source of flame each time the oven is 
used and the temperature knob is adjusted to the desired level.  Gas ovens 
with automatic pilots have some kind of electrical spark ignition system, 
which requires that the oven be plugged into an AC outlet.  In prewar 
kitchens, no AC outlets were installed near or behind the oven, unless the 
kitchen was renovated at a later date by the landlord. My oven was 
manufactured by Royal Rose, which was a major manufacturer of gas ovens in 
the 1940's and 1950's, but went out of business in the early 1960's.
