Hi I got this phone at radio shack for 14.95 it will be at this price until
feb 25.
The steps to set it up work fine. 
You can also read text messages after they come in by:
Press left soft key for message
Hit 2 for inbox
Hit ok hit ok again to open the message 
Hit the 8 key and it will read the message

Phone set up:

The following was announced in two listservs, Blind users Verizon Phones at
yahoo Groups, and at BlindTech :

To have the LG Revere phone read the majority of the menus, do the following
Press the
okay button which is the big button in the middle at the top.
Press the number 9 which is settings and tools 
Press the number 7 which is for phone settings 
Press the number 3 which is for Voice Commands 
Press the number 4 which is prompts 
Press the number 1 which is for mode It will land on prompts Go down once to
read out plus alerts 
Press okay to select it.


When you first turn on your phone, if you hit the okay key, located at the
top center of the front of your phone, you will here names of folders if you
arrow up or down. When you land on a folder you want, you can hit the okay
key to go to that particular folder.

To have text messages automatically read when received, do the following:
Press the okay button which is the big button in the middle at the top.
Press the number 2 for Messenging
Press 2 which is the inbox
Press the right soft key which is options. The soft key is the top button on
the right face of the phone.
Press the number 7 for settings
Press the number 6 which is text auto view It will probably land on ON, go
down one to where it says on plus read out.
Then hit the okay button.

To instantly reply to text messages after they have been read, do the
following.
Press the okay button which is the big button in the middle at the top.
Press the number 2 for Messenging
Press the number 2 which is the inbox

Press the number 7 for settings
Press the number 7 for text instant reply.
It should land on ON. If not, move up to on.
Hit the okay button.


retrieve missed calls by doing the folloing.
Press the voice command button.
It will say please say a command
Say, Go To
The phone will ask Go To, Please Choose
Say, Missed Calls
It will tell you how many missed called you have It will read to you the
number of the person who called and it will give you
the date and time of the call.
It will ask if you want to call this person , so just say yes or no It will
also ask if you want to save this number as a contact. Just say yes or no. I
do not know what happens after that as I already had the person entered as a
contact. 


You can add contacts totally by using your voice except for when it asks you
to type your contacts name in. When it asks for the name, you have to know
how to type it in using just the plain keys. Once you have it typed in, then
all you do is hit the okay button which is the bigger round key near the top
center of the front of the phone.
Okay, if you make a mistake while typing in a name, hit the voice command
button for each letter you need to delete. Unfortunately it will not read
the letters as you delete them.


Press the voice command buttonsay contacts  it will give a list of things
(such as new contact erase etc) say new contact it will ask for the number
speak it and hit ok. it will go to mobil one arrow up or down to find where
you want the number. i just put it on mobile one my self when you have
entered the name hit ok. 


If it is a voice mail you are trying to retrieve, simply hit the voice
command button and say check voice mails. It will tell you if you have any
and then it will ask if you want to call your voice mail, so just say yes or
no.

retrieving and erasing missed calls.
To find out about your missed calls, do the following 
Press the Voice Command key.
The phone will request that you say a command.
Say Go To Missed Calls
It will begin telling you how many missed calls you have, who they are from
and the date and time they called.

To erase these messages, while the information about the missed call is
playing press the okay key which will open the call information for that
particular call.
Press the options key which is at the very top right hand corner of the
phone, above your voice command key.
Press the number 2 which is to erase
Then press the okay key again to approve the erase request.
Do this same procedure until all the missed calls you wish to delete are
erased. 

to check battery, signal strength   and time do the following
press the voice command key, the phone will ask you to say a command. 
say check signal strength for finding out how good your signal is 
say check battery level to see how full your battery is.
say Check Time and it tells the time and the date.


To switch from the speakerphone to the ear piece, do the following:
Press the voice command key.
The phone will ask for you to say a command Say, Go to settings and tools 
Press the number 7 to reach phone settings 
press the number 3 to reach voice commands 
Press the number 4 to reach prompts 
Press the number 2 to reach Audio Playback, the phone will not speak this.
Arrow down once to land on ear piece, the phone will not speak this Press
the okay to confirm change.
Everything is now heard through the earpiece instead of through the
speakerphone.





A little bit quicker way to get to where you can switch speakerphone to ear
piece is to:
Say, Go To Phone Settings. Arrow down to Voice Commands or hit the number 3 
Arrow down to Prompts or hit the number 4 
Arrow down to Audio Playback or hit the number 2 
This part will not speak. 
Arrow down once which will land you on earpiece, hit the okay button to
approve the change.
Note: The phone is your typical flip. At Costco  they are selling it for $0
with a 2 year contract.
