The NFB's Access Technology department could test this. Contact
Ann Taylor, Tony Olivero, or any of the people in the IBTC at the
NFB national office.

If I knew how to run online accessibility checkers on a site, I
might be
able to check their site and get a report. Unfortunately I don't
yet know
how to do that. Such a report would be be direct ammunition to
take to
the F.C.C. if it could be created. Now if the webmaster blocks
domains
because of this it would be helpful if several people tried
running the
site through the accessibility software at once. If that has to
happen,
it will be useful to document on what date and what time they did
this and
for what purpose. If police come calling as a result provide
them the
documentation and an explanation. If sirius xm decides to go to
court
over this, then this mess will get a public airing they'll wish
it hadn't
ever had.On Wed, 4 Jan 2012, Steve P. Deeley wrote:
Let me say this about the Serious/Xm web site. Up until about
18 months ago,
it was accessible to screen readers. The company then
reconstructed their web
site and it was no longer accessible to those of us using screen
readers. I
talked with staff at the company about a dozen times, and I got
absolutely
nowhere with them. They could not understand why there changes
could keep me
from logging in on the Serious/XM site. I would like someone to
file a
complaint with the FCC about their site not being accessible. I
really liked
using it via my computer before the reconstructed site came into
being. Any
other thought on the changes at Serious/Xm?
The company has lost a formally satisfied customer. My wife
still has
Serious/XM in her automobile.

Hi Chris,
The only program which can work with Sirius XM is System Access
from Samnet.
It too has its limitations but one can listen. The internet
radio isn't all
that accessible really with JFW and Window Eyes. Even the
IPhone app isn't
all that accessible! One can go to to
http://www.musicdoc.com
or do a search for it. One can get limited programming from
Sirius XM. The
real problem with them is they are nickel and diming people to
death almost.
I may stop my subscription again and pretty much listen to
online radio. I
haven't fully made up my mind yet but they haven't been all that
accessible
or willing to discuss making their site more accessible to us.

Chris, it's very nice to meet you. Welcome to the list!
I'm also interested in the question of XM on-line accessibility.
I have never heard of Sirius XM Streamer, so I'd love to hear
some
comments
on its accessibility.
Again, welcome to the List, Chris -- and Happy New Year!

Radio
Hi everyone,
First of all, I want to wish everyone on this list a very happy
new year and say that I am new to this list! I'm 14 years old
and
am in 8th grade in public school here in Maryland. You have
probably seen me on other NFB lists, the NABS (National
Association of Blind Students) or Blind Talk list, as I'm very
active in the Federation. With that said, I have a question
about Sirius XM Internet radio and accessibility. Has anyone
found a work-around to using Sirius XM's online radio service
with JAWS? It seems to be inaccessible to me, at least the one
on
siriusxm.com. I have heard about a program called Sirius XM
Streamer which makes the internet stream accessible. But how
does it work? Thanks for any help!
Chris
