[Electronics-talk] Issues with Cox remote top boxes

I've heard that when Outspoken from Berkley Systems stopped being
enhanced and supported, Apple was left without a screen reader for their
platforms. This meant that--without an accessibility story--they were
losing deals to US Federal agencies and organizations receiving funding
by the US Federal government (particularly educational institutions).
PC's running Windows had 3rd party solutions to satisfy these
governmental requirements. With no one developing a screen reader for
the Mac platform, Apple took this on themselves.

Note that I've heard this is what motivated Apple to develop VoiceOver
for the Mac, and it makes sense to me, but I don't know this for a fact.
