You might want to try a different USB to parallel adapter -- that is
a different brand. It is hit and miss whether or not a given one will work.
Also, if you use JAWS as your screen reader, you can beg and plead
with them, and they can provide you with a special version of JAWS
that does support parallel Braille displays.
