[Electronics-talk] a few questions after reading the book

Hi,
I made it through the book "getting started with the iPhone."  Now I will need to reread and reread.  But I have a few questions:
How do you know when to use which gesture on any given screen?
Is the rotor always there or is it only on certain screens, and, if so, which ones?
