Wow, you paid way too much for your talking skelp. Bye.com different from Best Buy is a site what I bought a way COM talking scale for about $39. You should look into it. And maybe if you search for talking product and stop warring about if it was for the blind or not you wouldn't get charged the blind tax.

So before I rush out and order another "blind accessible" product that doesn't turn out to be what it's cracked up to be, I'll let someone else be the guinea pig. I'm sick and tired of getting stuck with talking products that either don't don't work well, or if they do work, they don't last very long. I spent $70 for a talking scale that stopped talking after 9 months. This may be acceptable to you , but it is certainly not acceptable to me. And my experience with Best Buy is that their staff is indifferent and unhelpful. Maybe you have had better luck with their staff and products.

>>> Well, it turns out that my skepticism about this radio may be well-founded. I just perused the instruction manual for this radio, which is in PDF format, and there is no mention of the blind-accessibility features. The radio is menu-driven, and presumably, it has speech to guide blind and visually impaired users through the menu options, but this is not mentioned anywhere in the manual. It is not even clear whether the clock has speech and can announce the time. There is supposed to be a quick start guide for visually impaired users, but there is no link to it from the Support page, only links to the regular quick start guide in three languages, which also does not mention anything about the accessibility features. If we blind users can't download the special quick start guide that presumably explains the accessibility features, what good is this radio, anyhow? Hopefully, some intrepid techie will buy one of these gizmos, fool arouknd with it and create a podcast that explains
>> in detail how to set up and use this thing. Until then, I'll hold onto my money. No wonder Best Buy is so universally vilified by consumers and research analysts alike. Can't they do anything right?

Those who say there's no difference between analog FM and HD radio must have a lot of wax in their ears or else be unable to tell the difference; because, I assure you, there is a difference. Even if you happen to be in a market which does not offer any HD stations, (I can get them here.), the radio would still be a good buy. Why? HD radios are much more sensitive even when receiving regular analog FM and AM signals. If you'd bothered to read the page Dave sent us a link to, you would have noticed a detailed description of the radio's accessibility. Furthermore, if you go to the Best Buy page and look at the radio, you will notice an even further description. I don't get y'all at all. I really don't. Y'all whine and cry for accessibility; and, when somebody out there makes an effort, y'all just tera it down. Y'all just ain't never satisfied I guess.

Also, the financial health of Best Buy is on very shaky grounds, and it could go under at any time, leaving owners of this new product in the lurch. And Best Buy's store-brand Insignia products have not enjoyed a good reputation for quality. A few years ago, they introduced a voice-command clock radio that was beset by all kinds of technical glitches. It was quickly discontinued and wound up on Cowboom.com selling for only $8. So let's see if Insignia's latest attempt at a blind -friendly radio is a real improvement.
