Hi Folks:
In the past day I posted a message here saying that being cynical I
questioned whether or not we would ever see more units of the
Narrator accessible radio from Insignia and sold by Best Buy. It
would seem that someone or someones forwarded my message and it came
to the attention of people at Best Buy and iBiquity Digital Radio Corp.
As I said in the original message, what I stated was my cynical
opinion only, and I now am saying I was wrong. If you forwarded my
previous message, please forward this one to the same places.
I spent time with a gentleman who works for iBiquity Digital this
morning, and I sincerely believe iBiquity and Best Buy are committed
to this radio and its future and will do what is necessary to have it
continue. He has been to China to get back what they could from the
original manufacturer who has gone out of business -- and they say
they have lined up two new companies to manufacturer a line of HD
radios for Best Buy.
They do feel they will have product again after first of the year,
and when inventory is sufficient they will more actively promote the unit.
I apologize for any angst I may have caused anyone, and am glad to
clear this up -- and I am glad the radio has a future. Once it is
widely available again, I have talked to Gary Wunder about reviewing
it for the Braille Monitor.
Show in warm and sunny Dallas -- this is Dave Andrews signing off.
Dave
