Hi,
Thanks! I would rather use speakerphone than headset, but I don't know how
to do that. I'll look for the Hadley seminar.
Thanks!
Lauren

Hello,
I'm new to skype and trying to learn it too.
I don't know the answer to your questions.
But why would you use a phone number and headset if you have a pc?
Yes, skype can be used with a phone to a pc, but if you have a high speed
internet connection, why wouldn't you use the pc interface?
You downloaded skype. First, you need to make an account if you haven't
already. You will have a user name and password. Once they send you a
welcome message to your email address, you are up and running.
Then go into the menus, I believe its in the tools menu, and turn on
keyboard short cuts. The menus should list the short cut keystrokes for
things like answering and hanging up a call.
To skype a user, you have to search for a friend, for instance, Amy Smith.
Search by their skype name, regular name, or email address. Often several
names will appear; check Amy's profile to see if she is the right one. Then
you send Amy a request.
Amy has to accept your request. Then you two can skype. Oh, and if you do a
skype call from pc to pc, both users have to be online. So check your
friend's status before calling her.
I would guess you simply hook the mic into the CPU of the pc. And I don't
see where the headset would be needed.
If your friend can see you, what she probably means is see your profile; I
doubt she can see your picture as you said you do not have a webcam.
Hadley school for the blind did a webinar on using skype. Just search for it
under past seminars, and then the technology category.
I wish I could be more specific but I cannot articulate directions well
without actually viewing the skype interface.
hth,
Ashley

Hi,
I need help learning how to use skype. I don't know if that is O T on this
list or not but I need help.
I downloaded skype and I have a new phone number, but I don't know how to
use it. I have a headset with mic but I'd like to be able to use it in the
speaker phone mode. Can someone give me the steps for doing this?
Also, one person who wants to skype with me says they would be able to see
me??? How is this possible? I don't have a web cam or camera of any kind.
Thanks
Lauren
