[Electronics-talk] a high-quality cordless phone

I have a Panasonic that I have had for years. Don't like the female
voice on the caller ID. Sometimes she is hard to understand, and on this
model, the number is not spoken. I use it in conjunction with a Clasco
caller ID box, which booms out the number.

Mine also has intercom, so I can call other handsets, but I think I
should have numbered them first; I don't think mine are interchangeable.
Or my husband is ignoring me. <giggle> Darla

Sherri,

We have had a Panasonic cordless phone for several years and have been
happy with the performance. We actually use 5 handsets on it. It has
talking caller-id built-in as well, and some functions talk but the
menus themselves are not accessible. They are not perfect, but seem to
be pretty good phones.
I do not have the exact model handy, but the odds are that the model has
changed anyway, and when I was looking they had a huge number of models
that basically had the same features but were different colors and
included different numbers of handsets. One feature that this system
has that I had not even looked for is that if the power goes out, the
base is automatically powered by the batteries in the handset that is
sitting in the base. This means I don't have to dig out an old phone
whenever the power goes out.
There may be other kinds of battery backups now, though, but this is
handy.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson
