[Electronics-talk] TV online

Hi,

Well, the handful of audio described movies I've viewed are American based
with American describers. I suppose most accents I could understand; it
seems though that if they're foreign describers, wouldn't they be foreign
movies too? Maybe not all of them. someone told me that harry potter series
was on blind mice.

Anyway, someone reminded me from another list that Amazon sells some
described dvds. This wouldn't solve the online streaming question, but
would allow one to buy real movies. The thing about that isI don't know how
you'd narrow searches to audio described movies. Maybe I'll look around
amazon's site and answer my own question. Also, someday, as legislation
takes affect, maybe these internet companies such as netflix will offer
described movies. We should be able to buy or rent streaming videos like
everyone else. Also, since I can see a bit, I'd like the video format of it.
Movies and tv shows online usually have a button for closed captioning. So
why can't they place a toggle button for audio description?

For instance, I noticed PBS's documentaries did not have audio description
online but did have closed captions for the deaf community. I called them up
and they said I had a good point and had not gotten such a call before. They
said they would look into putting description options for future streaming
of that type of program.

Anyway, we will see what happens over time.

Ashley

Well, I guess I don't have to respond to Christopher's query about Ashley's
disappointment since she answered it in her response.
