Hello everyone,
As a visually impaired person, I have noticed way too often that I 
have no idea who is nearby even if I know that person, unless that 
person says something. This can lead to unique social interactions, 
to say the least. I have found myself re-introducing myself to people 
whom I've met multiple times, as some people start sounding similar 
and it can be difficult to distinguish the voices sometimes.

After getting frustrated for a while, I really wanted to understand 
this problem better, so I started researching. After much research I 
came across a Mobile App called 'Circle' which notifies you when 
people you know, are nearby.let's say within 100 feet. I thought this 
was AWESOME!!

I really wanted to know if anyone has used this App or would be 
willing to test it out, and provide feedback and asking other 
visually impaired people you know about it as well.  I would love to 
hear everyone's feedback about this App and if you would like to 
share your frustrations when it comes to not knowing if your friends 
/ colleagues are around you, I would love to hear those as well.

I personally believe that technology for a visually impaired 
individual should not be limited to communication, functionality etc 
but it should enhance social experiences as well!

Another problem I come across when it comes to gaining access to 
smartphones is the affordability factor. Given the high unemployment 
rate within the visually impaired community, it can be difficult to 
afford a smartphone. Given that, I feel that unless smartphones 
become more affordable, making the technology better and more 
accessible won't prove as successful.
