Hi,
Have you called Freedom Scientific yet? That would be my first step. Hopefully, they could clear up any issues about compatibility with the different Windows versions you are running.

Subject: [Electronics-talk] Is the Pearl Camera from Freedom Scientific still supported by windows XP?
Hello, dear listers.
As the subject line specifies: I am having a very hard time installing my new Pearl camera from Freedom Scientific onto my windows XP machine. I did just about everything and anything; I jumped up and down on any technical ends but I just can not resolve this issue.
I don't know why it is working just fine on my Windows 7 laptop, but it is not working here on my windows XP PC.
I connect the Pearl camera into my computer, and then the "found new Hardware" wizard appears. I am prompted to install the driver either automatically or from specific location. I performed both of these options to install and find automatically and to search in specific location on the C drive, and no matter what happens, I get the following error message:
"Cannot start this hardware-there is a problem installing the driver for your hardware. The driver is either corrupted of missing. (Code 39) click 'finish' to start a troubleshooter that can help you resolve your problem."
I performed a system restore for about three times and uninstalled and then re-installed Open Book(r) for a second time and I even got into the device manager of my system properties to uninstall then update the driver myself, but to no avail. And the funny thing is, I installed my pearl camera on my laptop computer and I was running up in seconds.
So, I am left with two questions. The first one is, does anybody know what is going on with my installation? Can anyone direct me to some specific instructions regarding installing Pearl on an XP computer, before calling and / or emailing FS technical support?
My second one and really sad question is, is the pearl camera supported at all in 32-bit versions of windows XP?
I did read the user guide in Braille that came with it and it does not mention any specific thing about this.
Thank you in advanced.
Humberto
