[Electronics-talk] talking programmable thermostats

Andy,
Thus far I have not found an accessible way to access the Carrier Infinity
system. The thermostat is a touch screen, the internet based access uses
Adobe Air thus rendering the remote access to the system totally
inaccessible, and the Apple App is also totally inaccessible. I'm still
holding out hope that maybe I can create a template to go over the
thermostat that has holes cut out over the buttons that I would need to use.
Someone had posted that they use the Nest App, but I did not find that to be
accessible. Plus, from best I can figure out it would not work with the
Carrier Infinity system.
If anyone has any other suggestions for heating and cooling remote access
from either the iPhone or a PC with internet access, please share.
Annette

I love mine, but I know that in the near future I will need to buy a new
heating and AC unit, and I know that the new units are more high tech, I. e.
touch screens and the like, and I am concerned that my VIP will not be able
to work with it.

Gary,
I've been happy with the thermostat I bought from TalkingThermostats.com
almost ten years ago. I can't say I've heard anyone say much negative about
any of them, though. Is there specific feedback you are looking for?
Best regards,
