[Electronics-talk] Comparing GPS's

Can anyone recommend an accessible GPS app for the iPhone that is intended for back country use with hiking and backpacking? Most GPS apps seem to be purposed for street navigation. I would also enjoy being directed to an email list or website for blind camping enthusiasts. I do a lot of volunteering and camping with my son's Boy Scout and Cub Scout units.

Dear Steve,
That was my thought process, too, so I hope we're right; I don't want to have to use several GPS apps to do one task--walk a route, find the store or business I want--and return home.

Jim,
>From what I know from the past, I'm guessing that Sendero will make improvements to the Seeing Eye app. My understanding is that right now, it really doesn't do anything that the cheaper apps don't already do, but that it tends to do everything one might otherwise need separate apps to do. Do you feel that is a fair assessment? I have Blind Square and Ariadni and they both seem to do different things pretty well.
Best regards,
