[Electronics-talk] iOS 7 handwriting feature

Just to clarify, it's something that can be placed in the rotor.
You'll need to go to settings, general, accessibility, voiceover, and
then look for the rotor button. In there, you'll find all the items
that can be added to the rotor, including handwriting which is near
the bottom.

Once you've done this, then you can leave settings, and you should be
able to find the handwriting option when turning the rotor. Once
you've selected handwriting, none of the voiceover gestures will work,
except for the rotor gesture. You can draw on the screen to make
letters, two finger swipe left to erase, and two finger swipe right to
create a space.

You can use the handwriting feature anytime you would normally use a
keyboard. Plus, you can also use it to select apps from your home
screen. Simply go to the page your app is on, spin the rotor to
"handwriting", an then draw the first two letters of the app you want
to run. Then, flick around on the screen and only apps that start
with those two letters will be visible and ready for you to double tap on.

Finally, one thing I found rather annoying about this feature is that
regardless of where I put "handwriting" in the ordering of rotor
items, it would show up between "characters" and "words", which I
thought was the most annoying place for it to be. This was annoying
enough that I eventually turned off the feature. I never checked to
see if this was a problem for anyone else.

I hope this helps and good luck recovering from surgery next week.

For instance, from the home screen with handwriting toggled on, if your write a b, then all your apps starting with b will be in a list and you can choose the app you want. Or on the unlock screen instead of touching the numbers to unlock you device, toggle handwriting on and you can write in the numbers with your finger. There is a podcast on applevis.com done by David Woodbridge that talks about other places to use the handwriting feature.

The AT&T rep said, in all honesty, IOS 7 will run fine on iPhone 4S, but not on iPhone 4. I have spoken to numerous people running IOS 7 on iPhone 4 and they are not experiencing any issues, so difficulties may be hit and miss.

For sited people who see the new graphic interface they like it, but my particular phone seems sluggish now, I here more clicks as I navagate the screen, I have been unable to answer a couple calls because it didn't register the touch of my fingers and voice over has been more jumpy when navagating around the screen in genral. The first day I updated it Voice Over sounded like it had a cold, as if the speaker was muffled, but after the battery died and I recharged it that day it seems to sound normal now. If I could go back I would have just left the last OS, but it may be not a big deal for others, or it may be different on 4s, 5 and 5S, but my phone seems more sluggish now.
