[Electronics-talk] Telework/work from home/workvirtually/telecommute?

Good evening everyone,

    Don't take a job where you have to pay for something to work or become 
financially independent? No. Beg your state V.R. agency to send you to 
school so you can work life's 50-year plan and at the end of the day end up 
back in the crap hole. We'll work the 2 to 5 year plan any day and be able 
to buy our own access technology, pay for training at an NFB center, being 
able to contribute more to the work of the NFB, the list goes on.

    Finally before you ever slam any type of work or business opportunity a 
word to the wise is to investigate it's credibility before taking the plunge 
and be sure that the sources of information are reliable. The Internet is a 
great place to obtain information about employment and business 
opportunities but it can also be a source of much misinformation such as 
that contained in the quotes below. Any company that has survived for 50 
years, has undergone serious scrutiny by the Federal Government and other 
regulators,has earned national and international recognition for its 
achievements, and has survived the test of time deserves serious 
consideration particularly when a blind gentlemen achieved tremendous 
success with professional networking in the late 1970s long before there was 
any kind of adaptive computer technology, the Internet, smart phones,etc. We 
ourselves know from whence we speak because we're very familiar with network 
marketing and will not sit by and tolerate anyone slamming something that 
has the potential to create a far brighter picture for blind individuals 
today as it did in the 1970s. Given this man's success it's a sad commentary 
on the blind community that there are not large numbers of us following in 
his heals. How disgusting! Let's begin changing that by following his 
example and large numbers of us particularly the Gen-Y folks on paths to 
personal freedom and financial independence instead of being stuck in life's 
50-year plan complete with unnecessary barriers put before us by society and 
its mistaken beliefs about the abilities of the blind.

Peter Donahue who looks forward to attending future NFB conventions and 
hearing how blind individuals gave the rehab system the boot in favor of 
financial independence, parents of blind children who took control of their 
child's education by hiring highly-skilled professionals to teach their kids 
blindness skills instead of messing with a public school system that refuses 
to believe in the capabilities of blind children, the list goes on.

That’s the other thing about the work from home jobs that I saw.

I was not and am not about to pay for my own blood sweat and time to work 
for someone.

thanks for that advice, and hope you are doing well there.

Also, others need to remember that advice too.

there’s no amount of desperation that should ever get someone to pay to 
work.  It doesn’t come out well.  Something else I’ve learned from hard 
experience.
