[Electronics-talk] Telework/work from home/work virtually/telecommute?

Hi,
The main problem is that the companies who offer telework will not employ
blind persons; they are fear-driven about whether blind persons could do the
work, (which they could if trained properly) if it would cost the company
more (no it wouldn't) and if there would be liability issues (no there
wouldn't.)

Too bad you can't have blind people who are not doing telework take a
survey. You might have a hard time finding blind people who are actually
teleworking because of fear and misconceptions on the part of the companies
who won't hire blind workers.
Thanks
Lauren

The thing is, so many company's/organizations are starting to implement
telecommuting/work from home programs. Often times these programs make
employees more satisfied and decrease costs for the company. My goal at this
time is to understand the experiences of blind teleworkers. Think of my
survey as a thermometer used to understand/measure experiences. After
understanding where we are at now, the next steps should become easier to
define. I am passionate to do all what I can to promote equality in the
virtual workplace!

Respect,

Amin

Hi Lauren,
I'm definitely with you here. I want to work and have good skills, but we're
getting ready to move to a small town with terrible transportation so
Telework may be my only option.
