[Electronics-talk] cable access

Amd how would I contact somebody locally in a management capacity at Time
Warner? You have to call their service number to report any service issues,
and they refuse to connect you to a manager or executive. Unfortunately,
this is a service related issue, and even if I wrote the CEO of Time Warner
Cable, his staff would merely redirect my letter to somebody in customer
support who wouldn't know what I'm talking about. That's what happens when
cable companies are allowed to become absolute monopolies in their markets.
Their attitude is that if you don't like their service, you are free to
cancel it and watch TV with an antenna. But see how far you'll get. So
they have their customers over a barrel. And the New York City Department of
Telecommunications, which grants franchises to all local cable operators,
has absolutely no jurisdiction over service issues. Indeed, when Time
Warner blacked out WCBS channel 2 last summer for three weeks, they did not
intervene or make any effort to force them to restore it, even though
depriving their customers of a basic, over the air channel was a violation
of their franchise agreement.

Newsline and others get their listing data from a
division of the Tribune company, Tribune Media
Services. They are obviously getting bad data
from Time Warner. Try contacting somebody
locally at Time Warner, or your franchisee
authority. A customer service rep won't know anything about this!
