Not sure if this fulfills your needs (and I have not seen it in action), but have you thought of the braille edge 40? It is a braille display (40 cells, with blue tooth?) with some very basic note taking functionality built in.

I had a Braille note ages ago.

I wish they just made a note taker only though.  Not a really inflated laptop.  Which is what note takers have become.

I don't want a Braille and Speak as I need a reliable braille display involved.

But some of us just want something to write things down, that talks, and has a braille display.
