Yes, you have to purchase eloquence for NVDA, there is a hack for it, but
that is not legal.

hi,
but, do you have to purchase elloquence for NVDA? depending on cost, may be
worth it. I can hardly understand the regular NVDA voice but would like to
give that screen reader a try.

I use NVDA primarily now over jaws. I have the eloquence voice for it so it
sounds no different then Jaws and is much quicker in my lill old opinion.

NVDA is a open source screen reader for Windows. It's supported by voluntary
donations. A Google search will take you to http://www.nvaccess.org/ where
you can read more about it and download it for your Windows PC.
