[Electronics-talk] Seeking Info about the Pen Friend

Each package of Pen Friend labels contains a sequence that is different than
any of the other packages of labels. So for discussion purposes, let's say
that each package of labels contains 50 labels. Package A labels would be
assigned the numbers 1 through 50. Package B labels would be assigned the
numbers 51 through 100. Package C would use the numbers 101-150. The Pen
uses that unique label number as a reference number to find the recorded
message you created for that label. I think last time I checked either ILA
or MaxiAids the packages of Pen Friend labels went as far as the letter J.

Annette

Hi Sandy and all,
I've wondered how critical this A and B label situation really is! I can
understand to a point if labels were made the same, this could be
problematic especially if one used the Pen Friend Heavily! Nobody has given
me a straight answer on this! You might also check LSS Products for labels
since they sell both devices and they say the labels they sell work on both
the Talking Label Wand and the Pen Friend. I may phone them to learn more!
Their website is:
http://www.lssproducts.com
Thank you for confirming what I understood!

to be B, and I don't know far through the alphabet they go. It seems I've
had a and b from Independent Living Aids. Both my wand type devices came
from there, but the site has no mention of reorders of Touch Memo labels.
My friend has an inexpensive wand/labeler from Speak to Me which she named
Wanda. I'll check independent living web site pretty soon.

messed up the first recording. This means you can record the label as many
times as you wish! I believe your messages are stored in the memory of the
pen friend itself. It associates message with symbols or letters on a given
label. As you may know, the pen friend is also an MP3 player. If you simply
wish to label in this way only, consider the talking label wand from LSS
products, Buffalo New York. I have them both and they both work nicely.
The talking label wand is cheaper and all functions speak! This is not the
case with my particular pen friend.

happened to see a video on the Pen Friend and was curious about something
that they did not mention and does not seemm to be in the descriptions I
have seen in the catalogs that include this product. Can the labels be
re-used or are they one time use only? In other words:

the ability to record one thing?
>>>
>>> b) Can you remove a label from one thing and place it on another? As an
example, say you purchase a can of corn, label the can, later, after you use
the can of corn and purchase another (because you really love corn and can
not wait to get more:)), can you remove the label from the old can and
place it on the new can or is it some type of adhesive that starts to lose
its stick if removed and affixed to something new? Hopefully that made
sense:).
