Does anyone know a windscreen that can be used for Olympus DM-4's internal
microphones? I'd rather not spend $150 on binaurals if I can avoid it, and
I've hear there are ones that work well.

Also, any tips in general for reduction of background noise on that recorder
are appreciated.

Best,

A friend of mine is looking for a tape player that can play the old NLS
cassettes and similar. She found one online, but it was around $150, and
she doesn't want to spend that kind of cash. Any ideas?

Have NLS send her a new cassette player. That'd be what I'd do.

The regional library for Washington state isn't issuing them anymore.

I think the DM4 is similar to the DM420 as far as the way the
micraphones are layed out. I use a nerf ball that I cut a slit in. I
stretch it over the top of the machine and it makes a great windscreen.
Nerf balls are available at target, four for $5 which is a lot cheaper then
a regular windscreen and they hold up much longer.

NLS in Ohio is still distributing the tape players because the conversion to
DTB is not yet complete. I would check with the state library to find out.
