fyi I keep copies of my banking info including that elusive security number in several formats for convenience and security reasons. I need my card brailled so I can choose my method of payment when I'm out shopping, dining or whatever. Not being male I don't keep my wallet in my pocket.
You can wait for the moon if it makes you happy. I am pleased to id the card I want easily and not have my braille label get stuck in the scan slot.

Okay, so what? You have your name, the expiration date and account number in braille. But, with out that Security code, you can't make any phone or online purchases.
As I've stated before, my cards had all important information in braille. I am absolutely disappointed and disgusted that they no longer provide the complete card. And if anyone think just having what's on the card better than anything, in my opinion, that's sad. For they know how important that security code is. an I don't care how much information you give them via a phone call, they will not give you that code. They don't have access to that code.
However, if you go to your local bank--as someone suggested--then the teller can read it to you.
Gerald, you asked about reading the card number without sighted assistance.
If you know what printed numbers look like, you can do what I do. I use a stylus or pen to feel the numbers. Now, the expiration date is a little harder to decipher. But it can be done. Sometimes I will take an open safety pin or sewing needle to decipher those numbers. Caution: Try not to scratch the card if you use a sharp implement like a pin.
I hear ya when you say you don't trust your neighbors. However, I think the odds of them being able to remember 16-digit numbers--like yours truly--is slim. But then they could take a pic of it. So, stay wise my friend.
