That is true of so-called tabletop radios. However, the majority of HD Radio activity is in, and has always been in car radios. Most radio listening is in cars, and most equipment activity today is not in stand-alone radios. Most radios today are a part of something else, clock radios, car stereos, home stereos with tuners, etc.

Interestingly, somebody asked the representative from CCrane Radio on the Accessible World Tech Talk Stocking Stuffers podcast this past Monday evening whether CCrane had any plans to offer an HD radio. The representative replied that CCrane had concluded that HD radio was essentially dead, having generated little interest among consumers, and so, they had no plans to offer one. Right now, Sparc is apparently the only company still making HD radios, so grab one while they are still available.

The sparc's are available from Amazon and there are several models that talk. I have the portable and I'm very happy with it's performance.

Does anyone know whatever happened to the AM/FM/HD radio made or distributed by Sparc? It had talking features. Thanks.
