Hi Gadget girl,
I have often thought about using solar panel but never was sure if it really worked as well as I saw the demonstrators say that it worked. I'm really interested to find out how dark of a rainy day it was when you used it. Also did you stand it up in the window or did you lay it flat on the table in the window on the rainy day? I would look forward to hearing back from you again thank you for this really cool idea.

Hello. I'd like to add that there are also portable solar panels to charge your devices. I picked up one over the summer. It has several ports to plug into such as USB, mini USB, etc. it also came with a battery pack and rechargeable batteries. We picked it up at a boating store called West Marine. It is pretty cool and charges pretty fast. Great for when you're outdoors and away from an outlet to charge your device. I've charged my devices by placing the solar panel in a window, being outdoors, and even on a rainy day. There are two panels which fold in half making it the size of a sheet of paper. When charging outside or in the sun, The panels shield your device from getting too hot in the sun. If you are going to be out of power or away from power for days at a time, I highly recommend the portable solar panels. Just wanted to throw that out there.

Gadget Girl

We also didn't want wireless phones all over the house so we stopped the landline. We hardly get soliciter calls and we keep our IPhones on 24 hours a day anyhow so we are very pleased to be without landlines. We like to text message, landline calling, facetime calls and on it goes, we feel we have a marvelous experience with our IPhones! I can place calls with my IPad or IPod when the phone is charging. The IPhone places the call but the audio goes through my IPod or IPad. We switched to ATT so don't know what happens during an outage. The bottom line is we don't have two phone bills to pay!
