There's no reason not to use rubbing alcohol. The only reason I can 
think of not to use rubbing alcohol is that you may need it and use it 
all up for other purposes. Of course, if you have a ready and cheap 
supply of denatured alcohol, you should use it, assuming it's cheaper 
than your supply of rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohol is a denatured 
alcohol, and it's frequently used for more than just topical 
applications simply because of it's ready availability. You could also 
use just plain old ethanol, but due to taxes, it's probably going to be 
a lot more expensive.
