[Electronics-talk] VOIP Phone Service

VOIP, or Voice Over Internet Protocol, allows you to place and receive telephone calls over your internet connection, which means, obviously, you must have internet service and be connected to the internet.

You must then have a VOIP service provider. I use Vonage, which provides very good service, have many services, and only costs me $9.95 per month for unlimited calling anywhere in the United States and Canada, free voice mail, call forwarding, call waiting, caller ID, call blocking, “Do not disturb,” automatic forwarding of your calls to another phone, should your internet service go down for any reason, and much more.

The faster your internet service, the better the quality of service you’ll get.

I have excellent service, at least as good as AT&T, and there is no noticable difference in the quality of service that neither my callers nor I can perceive.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s the best deal in town.
