I had 1 like that years ago. Is anyone familiar with a phone by I think it
is sincere or something like that?

Yes, the call waiting has to be activated by the phone company.  However, it
is the caller ID box that is the issue here.  I used to have a caller ID
that I got from Speak To Me, that would announce the name or number of the
incoming calls even when I was on the phone.  When I heard the first call
waiting tone, then I would hear the caller ID box announce the name or
number of the caller.  If you had stored the names in the memory, it would
announce the name, otherwise you would hear the number.  I am sorry I did
not make that clearer in my previous message.

Pam, you are correct.  The feature has to be activated by the phone company.
