[Electronics-Talk] caller ID box

Do you have priority ring as 1 of your features. If you do, I believe you
can store up to 12 numbers in there. WHen you are not on the phone, a
special ring will identify the caller. When you are on the phone & the
caller ID is on, you will hear the priority ring sound in your ear or on the
speaker whichever you are using. That way, you can decide if you should
answer the call or not. Since I don't have talking caller ID, this has
become a God sent. I hope this helps you & everyone else that might have the
same issues.

Shannon:

That is the caller ID box I was talking about. I am sorry it is no longer
available. I liked being able to hear the incoming caller's identity before
I abruptly ended my previous conversation to answer the phone. Now, most of
the time, I just ignore the call waiting tones and let the person leave a
message on my comcast voice mail so I can call them back when I finish the
call I am on at the time. It does seem that sometimes they stop making the
products that are the most helpful to us. Of course, manufacturers never
actually ask the blind what we like and would prefer to use, they just make
their own decisions. For the sighted folks, the incoming call shows up on
their phone display even on call waiting so they can decide if they want to
take that call. All I am wishing for is equal access. I would also like to
have the other menu functions speak on landline phones like they do on some
cell phones.

We have a stand-alone talking caller ID box that works with call waiting
too. We got it from Speak to me a few years ago. Sorry, I don't know the
brand, but it was a common one at that time.

Doesn't the talking call waiting have to come from your phone company? I
have never known of a talking caller id that does that. And I don't think
there are talking caller ids left. Maybe in a panasonic phone, but not
definitely. But it would only say the person who was calling when you are
not on the phone. If I am wrong, I'm sure somebody will correct me. Pam.

Hi,

I want one that will work with call waiting and have not found one like that
yet. My Panasonic cordless phone has caller ID that speaks the name or
number but, not on call waiting.

I believe this unit is fine; just a caution that Amazon also sells a very
cheap unit (under $10) which more often that not, simply says "Florida call"
or other useless phrases, and will not speak the number. I tried to return
it and the company wanted almost the entire purchase price as a return
shipping fee.

I've been told the Emerson could always be made to speak the number in case
it said something like this, but the really cheap unit could not be made to
speak the number, and had no call log.

Hello,

Amazon advertises a large print talking caller id by Emerson for around $17.
Here is the link.

Hello all: I just got a new phone for Christmas. However, it doesn't have
talking caller ID. Does anyone have a box they would be lwillling to sell or
give to me. Or, does anyone know where they sell talking caller ID boxes?

Thanks in advance.
