The one I have is the old fashioned type with the weights.

Why aren't there any electronics in it? It's a digital scale. It's not the old-fashioned type with the weights. And why would it run on batteries if there are no electronics in it? Pam.

Can't imagine how it could just stop working because there are no electronics in it.

The original one we got in the nineties stopped working. So, my husband bought one about eight years ago, which Is about half as thick as the other one, but that has now stopped working. I think I am giving up on scales.
Pam.

I still have one of those AFB scales that I bought over 30 years ago, and you'll have to pry it away from my cold dead fingers.

I have never had much luck with talking scales. I emphasize that this has been my own personal experience and should not be taken as a general rule or warning. David Andrews use advice is excellent.
Many years ago, the American Foundation for the Blind had a scale with a waist-high touch dial and I found it quite satisfactory. I don't believe it's made anymore.

I got one like that from Amazon. I boxed it up, sent it back, and got a refund. I also ordered another one. It is one that will tell you the body
fat percentage too. I am not at home, so I can't say exactly which one it
is, but I can look when I get home. I just wanted to let you know I had a similar experience with that glass one.

Before you trash your talking scale, and buy a new one, try replacing the
battery.

Subject: [Electronics-Talk] Bathroom scale

I have a talking bathroom scale I got at Amazon. It looks like a flat piece
of glass with feet.

This morning, I weighed myself, and the answer didn't sound right, so I did
it again to see if I got something similar. I weighed myself 5 times before
I got 2 similar numbers, and the range was about 10 pounds between 1 minute
and the next. So this scale is pretty much useless.

Can anyone recommend a talking scale that's reasonably accurate?

Thanks.

Tracy
